Dana & Kevin’s Abule Wedding | Modern Minneapolis Wedding with Skyline Views

Bride and groom sipping champagne and celebrating during wedding reception

Dana and Kevin’s wedding day at Abule in Minneapolis was one of those days that just felt easy in the best way. Clean, modern space. Incredible light. Thoughtful details. And a couple that was fully present with each other from start to finish.

From the moment I walked in, I knew this was going to be a fun one to photograph.

Getting Ready with a View

The morning started high above the city, with floor-to-ceiling windows and that soft, diffused light that photographers dream about. Kevin got ready overlooking downtown, adjusting his details while the city moved quietly below him.

Dana’s space had a completely different energy was calm, intentional, and filled with beautiful details that tied everything together.

And the florals… I genuinely couldn’t tell they were silk.

Silk Florals That Look Completely Real

Dana and Kevin used Something Borrowed Blooms for their florals, and I’m not exaggerating when I say they looked completely real. The colors were rich and layered, the textures photographed beautifully, and everything held up perfectly throughout the entire day.

For couples planning a Minneapolis wedding, this is such a smart option, especially if you want elevated floral design without the stress of fresh arrangements. As a photographer, I honestly love working with florals like this because they stay consistent from getting ready all the way through the reception. Also sustainable, we love that.

A Modern Ceremony at Abule

Abule is one of those Minneapolis wedding venues that just works. The clean lines, bright interior, and massive windows create a space that feels both modern and timeless.

Dana and Kevin’s ceremony was framed with a stunning floral installation that added just enough color and softness to the space without taking away from the architecture.

And then, one of my favorite personal touches I’ve seen in a while:

They rented the CHS Field screen to display their wedding day (and their dog 🐶) for guests to see from the venue’s high vantage point.

It was unexpected, fun, and completely them.

Portraits Around the City

After the ceremony, we stepped out for portraits with the Minneapolis skyline as the backdrop. The overcast sky gave us that soft, even light that makes everything feel a little more cinematic.

Dana’s dress moved beautifully, Kevin’s deep-toned suit added contrast, and the two of them just naturally fell into each other. No over-posing, no forcing moments, just real connection.

That’s always the goal.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings at Abule

If you’re planning a wedding in Minneapolis, Abule is one of those venues that gives you so much flexibility:

  • Incredible natural light for getting ready and portraits

  • Clean, modern design that keeps photos feeling timeless

  • Indoor ceremony options that still feel bright and open

  • Unique vantage points of the city (and apparently, CHS Field!)

As a Minnesota wedding photographer, spaces like this make it easy to focus on what matters most, real moments, honest emotion, and telling your story in a way that actually feels like you.
