Spring Wedding at Paikka | Chelsea Reeck Photography

If you're looking for inspo for a Minnesota wedding that’s full of heart, color, and wild joy, Shelley and Emily’s wedding at Paikka in St. Paul set the bar real high this last weekend.

As a Minnesota wedding photographer, I get to witness all kinds of love stories, but this one? This one hit differently. Shelley and Emily are both engineers, both wonderfully goofy, and both head-over-heels for each other. Their chemistry was off the charts, laughing one minute, tearing up the next, and always finding their way back to each other’s side without even thinking about it.

They made every part of their day their own. From a LEGO unity ceremony (yes, you read that right) to a custom LEGO cake topper that looked just like them:) their wedding was full of thoughtful, quirky touches that reflected their story. It was a perfect blend of fun and authentic, just like them.

Their ceremony was heartfelt and simple, set against the modern elegance of Paikka, one of my favorite venues in St. Paul, MN. This place is a dream for photography. Clean lines, thoughtful design, and some of the best natural light you’ll find in a Minnesota venue. Whether we were tucked into the corner with soft window light or out in the courtyard for portraits, every shot felt effortlessly beautiful.

One of the most moving parts of the day was the community that showed up for these two. Friends, family, chosen family, everyone came with open hearts and full energy. There was so much support in that space, and it made the celebration feel even bigger than the two of them.

And then came the reception. Let’s talk about Autum Breeze, their drag queen MC who absolutely slayed. She kept the energy high, the vibes fun, and the dance floor full all night long. This wasn’t just a party, it was a full-on celebration, with Shelley and Emily dancing like no one was watching (but of course, everyone was, because they were adorable).
